car rental

Whether you are on business or need a rental vehicle for pleasure, why not consider booking a Hertz rental car or commercial vehicle through this API Insurance Services website – and instantly access considerable savings and additional benefits.  The savings can also be used to upgrade or extend a rental should you need a vehicle while your own is with a crash repairer – why not talk to us about claiming these expenses as part of your motor vehicle policy with API Insurance Services.

Hertz invented the car rental business in Chicago, Illinois in 1918 and has been the leading global car rental company for more than 90 years. Hertz operates in more than 150 countries and transacts some 30 million rentals each year.

Hertz Australia has approximately 30% of the Australian car rental market with a fleet of over 22,000 vehicles operating from 220 locations including all major airports. It has a wide range of passenger vehicles from small economy cars through to 8 seater people movers. It also rents trucks and 4WDs.

Hertz was recently admitted to the AFTA Hall of Fame after being adjudged best car rental company in Australia at the National Travel Industry Awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

We are very pleased to have negotiated a Customer Discount Program (CDP) with Hertz; this entitles API Insurance Services clients to special rates that deliver substantial savings on Hertz daily rental rates while also substantially reducing the insurance excess payable in the event of an unforseen accident.

For more details including Hertz’ Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions, a list of Hertz worldwide rental locations and details of the Hertz fleet, please visit www.hertz.com.au by clicking the Hertz icon on this page.  Please make sure you quote the special API Insurance Services CDP No. 1879734.

Why not also consider joining as a Hertz #1 Club Gold member. As well as a dedicated section on the Hertz website where you can update your profile and make priority bookings, you can also earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and Virgin Velocity points; even loyalty points associated with many of the international airlines.

When considering a car rental, it is worth noting that car rental firms invariably apply an Accident Damage Excess regardless of who is at fault in the event of an accident involving their rental car.
Normally, Hertz charge $3,300 (including GST) but our agreement with Hertz reduces this excess to $770 (including GST) on any vehicle booked on the Hertz website using the API Insurance Services CDP No. 1879734.

Hertz also applies a Single Vehicle Accident Excess of $2,200 (including GST) when an accident does not involve another moving vehicle: such incidents would include (but are not limited to) rollovers, collisions with animals and parked cars, and running into stationery objects.

Insurance for rental vehicles can be costly – the excesses are substantial should you decide not take out additional insurance with the rental company, and if you do, the daily insurance rates are a significant addition to the base daily rental cost.  An alternative approach is reliance on the protection of a travel insurance policy. For instance, at API Insurance Services, our Australian Plus travel insurance policy covers rental vehicle insurance excesses up to a limit of $3,000; enough to cover the Accident Damage Excess of $770 (normally $3,300) and the Single Vehicle Accident Excess of up to $2,200.

Don’t pay more than you need on minimising car rental insurance excesses – why not give us a call about an annual travel insurance policy to cover your car rental risks as well as providing wide ranging protection for other travel incidents.
